The City of Valparaiso's water and sewer mains are the critical arteries of the City's underground infrastructure network. This underground network spans over 500 miles and the essential components of the infrastructure must be protected as they are the lifelines of the community.
The VCU works in conjunction with the City Engineering Department and the Public Works Department to coordinate infrastructure repairs on an annual basis as well as maintaining an Aging Infrastructure Replacement Plan.
Sewer Infrastructure Replacement/Lining Projects
Infrastructure sanitary sewer lining will begin at the following locations:
- Yellowstone Road south of Park Avenue South (292 lf)
- Park Avenue west of Weston Street to Madison Street (261 lf)
- Clover Lane between Glendale Boulevard and Meadow Lane (560 lf)
Insituform Technologies was awarded the contract for the sanitary sewer lining project in the amount of $46,667.10.
Water Main Infrastructure Projects
Pepper Cove Phase 2 Unit 1 - Water mains will be installed in Phase 2 Unit 1 of Pepper Cove, an Olthoff Homes, LLC development. Reichelt Plumbing, Inc. was contracted to complete the installation.
This infrastructure will consist of:
- 2,717 lf of 8" ductile iron water main
- 6 fire hydrant assemblies
- 52 - 1" water services
Quail Ridge Lift Station Upgrade
The Quail Ridge lift station was constructed in 1983. Upgrades will include two new pumps and a new control panel. Gasvoda & Associates will be completing the upgrade at a cost of $28,161.00.
